1987 historical players but fictional teams.

'm actually looking to do something similar. I want to do a league with 1987 players based on the first fantasy baseball season I played. We had 23 players per team. I have all the old rosters. I just want to draft the rosters as they were when the season ended and play. I keep getting just fictional players.

And is there a way to just have 23 players? UPDATE: I figured at least this part out.

I have OOTP 21 ... which I bought for this purpose probably WAY back when and finally want to do this.

FYI: I'm creating a post -- for the sake of visibility -- on the general page.

Is there a way to do this? And also is there a way to minimize if not completely prevent players from getting picked up as free agents or anything by the computer. I need complete control.

Used historical

So I used historical and then delete teams and I reorganized the league, then did a fantasy drive. Wish you could just populate rosters without drafting but whatever.

Oddly ... why can't I find Steve Lake (Catcher), or Jim Lendeman, or Harry Spilman,or Bob Melvin!?

If a historical game, remember to turn off league auto-evolution or all of that will be undone when you reach 1988.

If you accidently deleted someone, just import them. Go to Commish mode from the Manager's office. Then to the free agent screen, far right is a drop down, import historical player, get their baseball reference ID (so melvibo01 as it appears in his BBR website address), import him using that ID and the year 1987. He will be a free agent and assign him to the team. To put someone on a team, go to their player page, player editor and near the bottom is a toggle to select the league and then the team you want to drop them onto.

Can you restart season without losing teams?

Hmmm. I thought I posted this already but don't see it.

I created a historical league, deleted all but 10 of the teams, , and then did a fantasy draft for 1987. But I goofed up after starting the season. I SWORE I saved AND did a backup but backup doesn't load either right or to where I was BEFORE I played some test games.

Can I restart the season WHILE keeping the drafted teams intact? If not, I more or less wasted hours.
