Historical rookies imported with very high current ratings in draft

When importing historical players for the draft some are imported with very high current ratings, i.e. Rick Reuschel is currently being imported for the 1970 draft with a 70/80 rating. Looking in the editor, his overall ratings also seem to be higher than his potential ratings (see screenshot). I have run into this during multiple historical seasons. Is there any way to fix this without manually editing current ratings but keeping the potential ratings?

To clarify, did he come in organically to the amateur draft class or, by imported, do you mean you manually imported him directly into a draft class?

Also, is scouting on or off?

He came automatically in the 1970 draft class, scouting is on and accuracy is set to normal.

Yeah Rick Reuschel was a rookie in 1970 in the minors and didn't debut in the majors until 1972. So yeah it is a little strange he would be fully developed (well not fully developed but, you know what I mean) in 1970. I can see where the OP is coming from.

If using a 5 year recalc, it's possible it's basically pulling in his 1972, and if it finds enough innings there, it might be ignoring his minors numbers when it rates him. We do ignore some minors numbers at times to make sure we don't over-react to a minor league rehab assignment.

Recalc is off, see the attached screenshot for the settings.

The 5 year "recalculation base" is how new player ratings are determined. But yes, it is likely that the game is over-valuing his rookie season. As mentioned, there are checks in place to put more credence to higher level minors stats.

You could either increase the "Adjust pitchers with fewer than X innings" setting, and it would likely take more of the ratings into consideration. You could also switch to using a 3 year (or one year) recalculation base, for example, and it would start his ratings lower off initially.
