Lost... New Game - Rosters on day world series ends.

I am trying to start a new game and I had posted a question before buying the game and a couple people said I would be able to start my game on day world series ends, 2023, or opening day 2024. Well I keep trying to make a new game, and it always goes to Opening day. What am I missing? I looked at Wiki, on posts here, nothing seeing anything to help me.

I remember for years it started opening day and one of my questions was important before buying because I never understood why you could not choose day you take over from the last season. Like End of world series, start of spring training or start of the season.
