Late Round Surprises?
In 18th year of my solo league, Justin Tyner of Jacksonville was the Eastern League's Rookie of the Year. He had modest numbers, hitting .275 with 18 HR and 88 RBI in 140 games. These numbers were impressive when you take into account that Justin, 27, was an eight-year minor-league verteran (six years in A ball!) who was originally drafted in the 7th round (out of 10). He had also been traded twice.
In 1919, Justin proved he was for real by batting .310 with 27 HR and 112 RBI. He won the Eastern League MVP, finishing 1st in the FSL in RBI and 3rd in HR (My league settings produce a low # of HR, the league record is 49). I'm curious to see what Justin does next year... I looked back at all the former MVP's and all of them (except for those who were active the inaugural year of the league) were high draft picks, most 1st rounders. A few were 2nd rounders. One other guy a third rounder- and that was it. Justin seems to be a rare case. What's the latest pick you've ever seen win an award?

I only have 5-round drafts, but I did once have a guy I picked up in the fifth round who won the Cy Young (or my league's equivalent) for 3 consecutive years.
