Between Season Changes
What kind of changes happen from season to season?
Why does a player hit .321 with 50 hr one year, hit .199 the next? If I know whats happening between seasons, maybe I can adapt my lineup. I generally run the same lineup every season, with additions of good cards IF i get any. But now the 101 / 102s I've had in my lineup for a month are just awful.

So much goes into performance from year to year besides players. Like player or team strategies, ballpark factors, combinator cards etc, that change season to season. That is only some of the things, but might help you understand.

Just the fact that you are competing against 29 different teams each week is enough to cause such variations. We all see the same thing; Get into the playoffs one week and then find yourself in 4th place the following week. That's what you get with a dynamic Promotion/Relegation system instead of a static league.
Ultimately - what it means is - you have to build the "absolute/no questions asked" best team to be consistently good.
