When playing a historical game, is there a way to see the players (pitcher and batter) historical season stats on screen during a game?

Yes there is... classic 3D view shows the real life stats (not the modern one). From what I saw it doesn't looks like you can see them in any of the 2D view.

Yes. Go into screen configuration and you can expand the batter and pitcher info boxes. The expanded info box will feature the real stats line, showing the players real life stats for that season.
