fictional historical with selected players
is there a way to create a fictional historical league, something like all time greats by country or team. can you populate a league with selected players and their best seasons?

Yes, but you'd have to import each player indiviually

could you please point me to a link which shows how to actually accomplish historical player by player input into a custom league setup?

Enable commisioner mode. Go to the league menu. Select edit league. At the bottom you'll see a button marked import player.

alternately, you can find several players in the game, usually with 1/2 star potential, that are fictional and/or have no stats associated with them. I've modified those players to that of "real" players. You can usually finder them in free agency centre and filter
