Manager of the Year

Nitpicky a bit, but has anyone ever seen a Manager of the Year award in this go to a manager that did not lead the league in wins? I feel like that's the default logic rather than seeing projected wins vs actual, etc and making a CPU vote based on that logic. Seems like it's just defaulted to most wins which isn't realistic compared to IRL where most of the time the MotY is someone whose team was not expected to be good and made the playoffs, had a much better year than anticipated, et al.

I know it's just a MotY award but if it's in the game, it might as well try to be as good as possible.

I have seen it in my fictional league but it does not happen often. Specifically, 10 out of 84 MOTY Awards were awarded to non-pennant-winning managers.

Yes. The manager for my team once won it when we finished a close 2nd place.

Rocco Baldelli won it in my latest 2024 save with the third best record in Baseball behind Atlanta and Phillie. I had expanded the league by two and moved everything in to as best as I could geographic location, so Phillie won the East with well over 100 wins, Atlanta won the Central with 111 wins and Minnesota beat out Houston, Texas, Kansas, Milwaukee and St Louis in the Mid-West with almost 100 wins. So I am not sure of the realignment helped in terms of the quality of opposition Minnesota had to beat but they had the third best record for sure when he won it.

Cool. That's good to know! I only play historical and never see it in my runs so it's good that others are seeing it.
