Weak Draft Pool playing Historical Seasons

Why the draft pool of 2021 and 2022 are so weak (historical seasons), only players coming from Asia have decent ratings, the rest, Holliday, Langford, etc. do not pass 35-40 potential on the 20-80 scale?

I usually play historical seasons in career mode, so by default when players are created and ratings are imported the recalc is 5 years, (two years before, the current year and two years forward).

The ratings of these players is weakened by the 5 years recalc? or the historical draft database is different from the one used in 2022 and 2023 to represent these drafts in modern game mode?

Has anyone seen this?

In historical play, potential is based on player's career performance. To have good ratings, they need to have good performance in the majors. Guys like Holliday and Langford do not have any(many) MLB stats, so they get bad potentials.

This is normal and working as designed. If you want to play with current prospects having their actual potentials, you'd need to use the base rosters for this, not historical play.

Thank you very much Lukas, now if I understand perfectly, I hope that the patch that fixes the minor leagues disappear will be released soon.

Thank you very much for your answer in the other thread.

That's a crap design. It basically makes historical play in recent history unplayable.

It's historical play.

If you want to play out modern guys using how they might theoretically perform in the future, you have a whole game mode to do that in.

Historical play is not that mode.

If you want to play out an alternate history of the MLB, you don't have a game mode to do it in, because the game falls apart when you get to recent history. I understand you haven't bothered to handle recent history in your design for historical play, but don't pretend like there's no reason to want it.

You have historical mode, which works fine for distant history. You have standard MLB mode, which works fine for the present and future. But you can't take a save from the past into the present and future, because when you get a save into recent history the whole thing crashes and burns. It's a real disappointment.
