Annoying auction behavior

One of those things that makes this community toxic IMHO - the people who put their card for sale at just 1 pp less than you. Are you really trying to squeeze every last pp from buyers and screw the guy 1 above you?

There is so much the devs could do to curb this, but alas, we're left to see how ridiculous 40+ year-old adults can be. I guess you can't escape bad behavior even when you're not playing something so competitive as Fortnite or Call of Duty.

I agree with you 100%. I mentioned this on discord but I'll say it here as well. As a buyer, I like the new system, as a seller, I like the old way so much more...There are people who spend all day doing what you said. I have witnessed it to the point , where it was done within seconds of me doing it, and when I changed my price, they would go 1pp less in the time it took me to hit refresh.

It's called free enterprise, and nothing stops you from doing it back except a lack of effort or a lack of desire. Read Sun Tzu, kid.

No, what stops me from doing it is kindness, caring, and not wanting to screw my fellow man for 1 PP. It's called common decency, eh old man? (figure you're calling someone in their 40s a kid, you must be pretty old). The time that elapsed since I placed these card orders and when I opened up the "your card orders" page and saw this was only a few hours.

Another gem of the community.

The devs could easily put an algorithm in place that makes makes it so if you beat someone else's offer that you have to beat it by X pp (based upon the cost) - for instance:

1-100 : 1pp difference minimum
101-1000: 10pp difference minimum
1001-10000: 100pp difference minimum
10001+: 1000pp difference minimum

This isn't a traditional auction site. You're not buying actual cards with actual differences from individuals who ship differently and have different feedback. You're buying virtual cards with no difference. I am all about free enterprise, but when you're talking about a game that's supposed to be fun, you shouldn't be allowed to screw other people in an annoying manner. That'll annoy people enough they won't want to play anymore. Get it, fella?

So...

you think YOU should be able to set OTHER PEOPLE'S prices?

That's laughable. Once they do that, and you start getting beat out by that minimum, you'll be back, violin in hand, whimpering and whining that there should be another rule change.

You want to make sales? Work for it.

As for your, "Another gem," wisecrack, that's bush league.

Just make a rule to undercut current price be at least 10% less and most of what you see will disappear.

Who pissed in your Wheaties? My god man. Get a grip, it's a game. Did I hit a nerve?

I'm not vying for "setting other people's prices" any more than eBay tells you that you can't bid 1-cent higher than the last bidder. It's not about "working for it" but rather just setting minimum changes. All auction sites do this to buyers (except those auction sites where you pay per bid).

Why did you start out so condescending and get so aggressive with me? Don't understand this behavior with a game. But then again, I play for fun.

Im sure many people get turned off by this. Who has time to sit around the computer all day to nickel and dime people. Just like he said....no decency. Just like the idiots who post a diamond for 4371 or some stupid amount. I'll just list it for 4001, and let someone be happy.

That doesn't bother me in the slightest

Usually if the guy who undercut you by 1 sells his card, you will sell yours within the hour. I have dozens of buy and sell orders out most of the time, and somehow most of my cards get sold without further adjustment.

I think the vast majority of users here have to wait out significant purchases, and when they home in on a card offered at 4998, by the time they're ready to buy it, your 4999 offer is the best and you get a sale.

That's my experience anyway, and I usually have 40 or so cards for sale in the card shop.

Not worth my time to drag this out

Good for you. Love this community sometimes.

My posts still stand, despite Sun Tzu. And my justification in talking about eBay is a legitimate comment. But it's fine, you don't have to address the meat of anyone's comments. Sun Tzu knows OOTP better than any of us. LOL.

At that point, I just list it at their price, and hope mine sells before theirs..lol

Thank you, Hwilensky.

I guess I could sum it up like this: once you've had cancer in your body, you cut it out of your life. I do this with my ignore list here. YOU are not on that list. Have a great day!

Yes, it's annoying; but as has been said already, your outbid-by-one sell order usually gets filled quickly enough. This system is better than the old ebay-like auction house.

Thank you LeeD, Hwilensky, HRBaker, and rburg for being relaxed. I remember the old system, definitely wasn't very good either. Still think some improvements to the current system (stated above) would be well-received.

We're in the point of the year where these kinds of suggestions could be used to shape the next game, so it's a good time to talk constructively about these ideas. Always good to have conversations about how to improve a game you like with good people.

The amount is irrelevant - whether it's 1pp or 10,000pp. The simple fact is that the system is set up so that the lowest sell order gets sold first. It's not about 1pp. It's about being the cheapest card so you sell the card. Makes sense to me.

The solution to this problem already exists. Just Quicksell your card. There is no waiting at all.

If you want to be kind to your fellow gamer, then list the card for the absolute minimum PP it would take for you to be happy to make the sale. what others list the card at should have no effect on you.

The only thing you can control is your response to the situation.
