Hiring a New Scout
Fairly new to the game and was trying to weigh the pluses and minuses of hiring a new scout in a fictional league. My current scout has 1 year of experience and is "average." There is a scout availble with 17 years of experience and is "good." Given how so much of the game seems to rely on how good your scouting is, I was considering firing the current guy and hiring the "good" scout but I also read it takes some time for the new guy to adjust and get reads on players. I am wondering how long it takes for the new guy to adjust and whether it is better to just stick with the average scout and let him get better or make the switch?
Thanks! |

I'm assuming the average and good is their reputation. I completely ignore it for all coaches. What are their actual scouting ratings?

Excellent/Excellent/Outstanding for the potential scout vs
Good/Good/Good for the current guy. But as my original post mentioned, I am worried it will take the new guy a long time to get up to speed... |

I'd hire the new guy. If his ratings are better, it would be a significant upgrade for the future of your roster.

So do you go for the guy who favors ability or neutral or what?

You may want to consider the favors tools vs ability too, but this seems like a slam dunk to fire the current guy and hire the potential guy. I wouldn't worry about getting up to speed--just hire the best scout you can. |

Neutral or favor tools is my preference.
Favor ability a distant second. I don't care for the highly favor ones in either direction, but will take a highly favor tools scout if they're clearly better than the next best option. Last edited by snepp; 03-30-2024 at 03:55 PM. |
