Colors on 2-8 Ratings Scale Bugged

Colors in OOTP25's 2-8 Ratings scale are currently bugged.

  • Ratings of "4" are showing as Yellow when they should be Orange
  • Ratings of "5" are showing as Green when they should be Yellow.
  • Ratings of "5" and "6" are both identical shades of Green.

This problem is affecting both Player Rating bars and Player Rating values. I know that the correct colors are in the game, but it would seem that a bug preventing the correct colors from being used. See the screenshots at the link below.

Thank you!

Try to the dark skin as it uses the old scheme (EDIT: I was wrong, it is new too, just not as bad). The other 2 skins use the new.

No dice. Both classic and light mode still have the issue.

Yeah, you're right, the #s themselves are a different colour scheme than OOTP24's, even with the dark skin. And I agree, I prefer the old scheme a lot more. I only pointed out the dark skin as I thought it was the old scheme as it didn't seem nearly as bad to my eyes as the others did. I'm not sure it's really a bug, however, but an intended change.

If OOTP doesn't change it themselves, someone will probably make a new skin. We're seeing more complaints about the skins this year than normal. I might even make one, I'm just not really playing OOTP25 yet so it hasn't bothered me enough to put the effort into making my own. EDIT: The #s might not be skinnable though.

FYI...currently running the new update for version 25.1.47. The patch has not fixed the Ratings Numbers calling the incorrect color conditional formatting.

I hope they fix this in the default skins. 5 and 6 being the same really takes away the ability to see at a glance what you have on your roster.

We updated the color scale to add a new color. We have 6 variations, and the 2-8 scale has 7 rating colors. I do agree though that combining 5 and 6 is not the best, I think we will change so that 7+8 will use the same color, and then each level below that will get their shades.

Thanks Matt for commenting and putting some thought into tweaking the colors. IMHO if two have to have to have the same color then either end of the scale is better than the middle, whether that ended up being 7 and 8, or 2 and 3.

My 2 cents, other's milage may vary.

Thanks Matt for getting back. Agreed with Sweed here; either 7 & 8 or 2 & 3 would be ideal. My personal preference would be 2 & 3, since you're hopefully not looking at too many players in the majors or even the minors/international leagues with ratings of 2.

I think a key thing is, like you said in your OP, 4 should be orange, 5 yellow, 6 green. Yes, it's what we're used to with previous versions, but I like that 6/green means, like a traffic light, good/go, while 5/yellow means caution/maybe go. A 5 (or 50) has meant to me, "well, that'll do for now, but I'd really like to do better", while the 6s (or 60s) have meant, "yeah, that's good, let's try to look to shore up some other position instead".

If I could mod it, I'd make it:

8 Magenta
7 Blue
6 Green
5 Yellow
4 Orange
3 Bright Red
2 Dark Red

Which is pretty much the same as previous versions, only that it's more obvious when you have a player with a max rating (and that that rating might actually be above the max). 75 or 80, yeah, they're both great, but I think a max rating should be given even more spotlight.

Also agree - 2 and 3 being the same makes more sense. I'd rather see a differentiation for the elite skills (7 and 8).

+1 for 2&3 being the same color (red). Feels like that would make the scale the most intuitive to follow with 4 being orange, 5 being yellow, 6 green, 7 teal, and 8 blue
