The long war against AI changing lineups
From what I can gather the best way(s) to get your lineup to consistently "show" the way you want it is to lock certain player to certain placed in the lineup via the player strategy page and to also consider using daily lineups.
The problem is when key players and players who are locked to various spots in the lineup get injured. When I incur a few injuries to key players that hit towards the top of my lineup, I'm sometimes tempted to just let the AI set lineups because otherwise I will have to spend time creating various lineups that will only be serviceable for a few days. I mainly want to stick to the GM portion of the game but I can't stand to see the AI put someone who I'd hit 8th in the leadoff spot (yes... this happens). Anyone have any clever lineups? Do you guys use daily lineups? If so do they save you any time as you're trying to get through a season to the draft/ International ams etc.? |

I play GM and turn off the ability for the AI to set lineups and depth charts for my team. I put everyone where I want on Opening Day and they stay there. Then I periodically check once a month or so to decide if I want to change the lineups based on player performance. |

Thanks for your reply.
Yea this is great advice but what do you do when injuries pop up? I am looking for a way to get the AI to set a decent lineup when injuries occur. Do I just need to take the time to craft the temporary lineups myself? |

Yeah, I feel your pain.
Unfortunately, setting the game up so that as GM you control the roster and pitchers/lineups while great for set-and-forget means you have to pay the piper when outliers such as injuries happen. I don't think there is any way around it if your goal is to keep the AI from pulling bone-head moves like you mentioned. Sorry. Perhaps someone else has an alternative, but I haven't found it. Of course I am not a daily lineup guy either, so who knows?

Yes, you need to create the lineups yourself. When I used to sim, I would use 7-day lineups. Also, I clear the depth charts. This way, no lineup changes occur without my say-so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The sim should stop and you should get an email notice when injuries occur. I just change my lineup and continue on until the injury passes. The only issue is that if the injured player is not placed on the DL, you won't get a notice when he is ready to play again. So you have to stay on top of that. |

Thanks for all the replies folks.
I think I've found a happy-medium strategy. I'll probably create some daily lineups that I can save based off of what I want to happen when some of my star player are injured and just slide them in when they are in fact injured. If I wind up with more than one star player injured I'll go ahead and just let the AI take over as I'm going to have a tough time stringing together to many wins during that stretch anyway. |

Usually the backup just hits in the same spot for me unless it's a longer injury. Then i try to just swap them with another spot and not redo the whole lineup unless they are out for months

Save your preferred lineups and depth charts using the dropdown buttons on the upper right of the lineups page. When injuries happen, ask AI to set up lineup/depth (you don't have to turn on the ability for the AI to change them to use the function). When injuries go away, restore your saved lineups.
