OOTP 25 on steam deck

Is OOTP 25 not compatible with the steam deck? I have never had a problem with multiple previous iterations. OOTP 25 will not launch. It was giving me a SteamAPI_Init Failure. Now it's saying "An error occurred while launching this game: app running". I've tried multiple protons.

Previous versions of the game had a native Linux build but this has been delayed this year:

The plan was for users to use Proton (the Steam compatibility feature) in the meantime but unfortunately there is an issue affecting this at present:

New patch did not impact this error

I downloaded the new patch but still can't start OOTP25 because of the SteamAPI_Init() error.

Same here. Looking for a solution. I tried using different versions of proton, verifying the integrity of the files, and restarting the deck. Nothing.

Lightbulb Update!!!

I got it to run on my Steam Deck using GE-Proton9-2. Use the first part of this guide to install it from Desktop mode:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...?id=3177959238

Then make sure you go back into Gaming mode, go to the properties of the game, go to compatibility, check the box, and then select "GE-Proton9-2".

Have fun!
