Independent League FA

Hello!

Question about Independent League FAs that your scout discovers. My scout found a SS from the Independent Leagues (50/55 OSA 55/60 Scout ratings). 26 years old and demanded 19M a year for 9 years or so. For fun, I offered him a 7 year contract for 15M each and he took the offer almost immediately. Which makes me think he would have taken Significantly less?

The guy has no previous stats recorded even though it's assumed he played in one of the independent leagues.

Just wondering if this is intended - a guy with solid ratings but from a Independent League (and no available stats) demanding so much money.

Thank you!

This was pretty typical in prior versions as well. I just had one pop up for me last night in my current v24 league, was initially asking for roughly my "super star quality" typical salary.

Do you find that the contracts they demand end up actually being the correct value/do they accept WAY less than what you demand? Obviously did not want to offer like 5M for a guy demanding 19M, but can't tell if he actually would have happily gone down since he took 15M without second thought.

I think I ended up signing him for roughly 75% of what he was asking, not sure how low he would go accepted that initial offer.

Cool. I'll experiment and risk losing one of them by offering way lower next. just curious if there's some sort of unintentional bug with the Indy League FAs.

I dunno if it's a bug per say, but I do think we maybe tend to make these guys a little too good. Might be something we can take a look at a little bit down the road.

The one that popped up for me falls in that category. A 21-year-old first baseman with 80 potential that was about 90% developed.

Maybe add a setting with quality options that ties into the randomly generated independent guys that caps their max PCMs. "Max" would allow full league pcm, then a handful of levels stepping down from there. This would allow players to select their preferred talent cap. I enjoy seeing these random excellent players pop up when I'm playing small oddball leagues, but don't like the really excellent ones in a larger "serious" league where player history is fully tracked everywhere.

Gotcha! I think I was wondering more about the $ that they "demand." Is there a pattern to what these guys would accept, since the "demand" is quite high but then a lower amount (25% cut or so) is accepted immediately.
