Rebuilding the Brew Crew

The Milwaukee Brewers are in a state of baseball purgatory. The 3 best players on the roster are in their last years of arbitration: Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Willy Adames. Christian Yelich is an average LF who is making more than Ronald Acuna Jr. He's tied down through the 2028 season, with a team option the year after at $20m. This leaves the team a bit hamstrung in giving out long-term contracts, considering we're a bottom 10 team in budget in OOTP24. I've been hired to try and bring this team to the promised land, and bring them their first World Series title.

With about two weeks to work with before the 2023 MLB season, moves had to be made to try and make this team a contender.

The first move we made was to pick up a lefty bullpen arm named Jovani Moran from the Minnesota Twins. They also threw in 1B prospect Edouard Julien, whose calling card is his eye, and versatile infielder Nick Gordon. To get these players we had to say goodbye to AAA infielder Mike Brosseau, and 24-year-old relief prospect Luis Amaya.

Next up was a huge trade with the Marlins, where we gave up 3 AAA depth pieces in Luke Voit, Owen Miller, and Robert Gasser. Gasser is the real loss here, as he's just 24 and has some untapped potential, but we were willing to give him up for what we got in return. The Marlins gave us Trevor Rogers, who could be a solid 5 starter, or a really good long reliever, as well as Andrew Nardi and Jazz Chisholm Jr., who is one of my favorite players in baseball.

With no money for extensions for next year, the Burnes and Woodruff negotiations would have to wait for the off-season but just know that I want to bring both of them back for the long-term.

The final move I made was in the staff department, where I replaced our pitching coach Chris Hook with Ben Buck, who has great relationships with our pitchers.

April 2023

The updates for this save will be monthly, where I will show the results of the games, the stats for both the pitchers and the hitters, as well as the team stats. Any transactions will be talked about on their own during the monthly update. With that out of the way, here is how our opening month of 2023 went.

May 2023

Everything was going great this month, we were having a solid month, got to the 30th of May without any major injuries, and then boom. Jesse Winker goes down for 4 months. Now, he's not a star by any means, but we don't really have a great replacement for him. I think I'm going to call up Joey Wiemer to play that spot because he's been dominating AAA so far this year. Rowdy Tellez was also the Batter of the Month for May, which is nice for him to get recognition.

June 2023

A very unconvincing month for the Brewers, we were super inconsistent and didn't take advantage of our lead in the division.
