Historical League Question

First time gamer. Did a quick start Historical game thats using the random players on each team - 1900 to 2014. Nothing showing as far as scouting players, minor leagues, etc. and only been able to hire one assistant coach (others say they are not interested in working for my team

). Will this type of league carry over as a career type setup, or is it a one year only game. I really like the way the game has players from the different years at different points in their careers.It would be nice to see players added in as years progressed in a career type setup.

A quick start is a special kind of save file and it doesn't sound like you used one of those. If you did, please identify the file used. The quick start option is identified on the main menu page.

But it sounds like you went to the historical game section and bypassed the advanced settings (your idea of "quick start"?). Doing that you have some choices to make although just a few. It sounds like you selected or the game defaulted to scouting 100% accurate (meaning no scouting options) and reserve roster instead of minors. So to change those things you need to go to league settings. Some changes can't be done during the season, some require being in commissioner mode, and some can't be made at all.

Thanks for responding. So, here are the steps I used to set up my league.

1. From the main screen I chose NEW QUICKSTART GAME
2. On the next screen, I chose ALL TIME GREATEST, and clicked CREATE GAME.
3. Next screen, I chose NEW YORK YANKEES, set trading difficulty and trading preferences to the midway points, and also chose CANNOT BE FIRED. Clicked OK.

The game opened from there. So, I guess I did NOT choose the years like I thought. Yet the league defaulted, apparently, to 2014.

I think that quickstart was created by a community member in 2014. The parameters in there (no scouting, etc.) were set by the creator. You could play past 2014 and add rookies that will be all time greats (Mookie, Kershaw, Trout, etc. - or just the best debut player of each franchise) once you hit their debut year. You'd need to manually assign them to their team though.

This is intended for single season play however with development off and recalc off maybe player's ratings are static until the end of time. I don't know. You might test it.
