Why is Phil Esposito not playing like Espo?

I started a historical game in 1969. Esposito only scored 33 goals in 69 season and 25 goals in the 70 season. I even increased his scoring accuracy with no increase. He was playing Cashman and Hodge as well. Hull is performing as expected. Orr scored 24 goals in 69 and 40 goals in 70. No 100 pts, only 50 and 69 respectively for ORR.

I have no injuries in this sim, so players play all games. Esposito had 186 shots in 69/70 and 211 shots in 70/71. Orr had 285 shots in 69/70 and 316 in 70/71. Maybe I don't have the tactics right.

For Esposito is real life, at this stage of his career, is suppose too have 10-15% in shots %. in yours he hits 17.7%. But he shooted regularlly over 400 shots! So a good replication of Esposito will be 2X more shots, but +/- 5% less in efficiency. But I'm pretty sure that your tactics are not the main factor. We have to look at the Attributes model. The forwards have frequently too high accuracy, way too low shooting range. And its the contrary for the defenses, too much range for the average guys and too low in accuracy...

And there is differences in the two engines (2D and classic) in terms of stats distribution too.

Oh! one more point. The tactical role have an important effect to. A player like Ovechkin or Esposito have Screener at 19-20 because they have 20/20 at the sreaning attribute.... So they will stand in front of the net most of the time and almost never shot from outside the crease.

Gretzky is almost set as any type of goal scorer and never as Gretzky office or passer.... Dave Schultz is alway most suitable as an agitator than a goon or enforcer etc... In historical games, players are too frequently noted higher in other roles than the one who made them famous!

And since the score for tactical role are derived from the attributes....

This system give us maybe too much freedom in the use of players. It's good in a sence to put players in other roles, but not for historical immersion. I mean, having Gretzky at 20 in almost every offensive roles....

And if you add the almost none influence of AI coaches attributes in tactical choices in historical.

So what are you recommending for Esposito? Change to classic and what role should he be in? In past FHM versions he would always get 50 or 60 goals in the early 70s and hit the 100-point mark or close to it.

I changed to classic and Espo started to score like he should in year 3,73/74 season. It's early but it's a change and it is good to see the player perform as expected.

Thanks for the advice.
