Draft Board

How do people think players like Paul Skenes, Mac Horvath, or Parker Picot will fare ultimately?

I am asking since they ALL have one thing in common. They are highly rated by my scout, but are asking for very modest signing money in relation to the talent my scouts says they have. Do people feel this is a loophole?

I suppose this can happen the other way around also (low rated players asking for a lot of money) but since most players have more of a tendency to bust than boom, I felt it might be better to ask from this angle.

EDIT: They also do not appear in the mock draft for being so highly rated. Does anyone else feel like this is a bit of an exploit/loophole?

I know a lot of people are really high on Skenes. I remember reading some scouts have said he is the most polished pitching prospect to enter the draft since Strasburg. I think his bonus demands were not as high as Dylan Crews so this had an impact on him going #1.

Money demands can be misleading. Sometimes players ask for more money because their OOTP player personality is greedy or they otherwise overvalue their talent or experience. At other times, they ask for too little money. However, some OOTP gamers definitely believe that signing money is a scouting loophole that can be exploited.

I've never really used it as an indicator of a player's true value. To me, as long as you have really accurate scouts (or you're not using scouting), a player's ratings and potential are everything. For me, the money only comes into the equation as a budgeting and spending issue. It's not a talent measurement for me. I've signed or drafted plenty of players who had lower demands but whose ratings and potential clearly showed their true value. I've also avoided many players who had all the ratings and potential, but they were not at all reasonable in their demands.

Highly favor tools scouts that are strongly favored by the fanbase are more likely to create illusions like Horvath and Picot.

In my experience, only when drafting college students around 30th overall, the best players are the ones who demand the highest signing fees. Basically, they are the players who demand more than $5M. The signing fee demands of players in the second round and beyond are not very different for any player, so it's not helpful.

Yea…you have to beleive there’s something off when both your scout & OSA rate a player very highly, but the player doesn’t appear in the mock draft, and the bonus demand is peanuts. Something definitely seems amiss to me.
