Scheduled Games Will Not Play

I posted this in "Historical & Fictional Simulations" and got no responses. Thanks to Brad K who helpfully said he recalled this was an issue in the past; but to post it here since no responses there.

Thanks for any ideas for solving this: how do I start to play my league games that are scheduled?

When I select "Play", it brings up my schedule and it shows the current date as 1/6.
The schedule shows a beginning start of games on 4/1.
I tried selecting auto-play until April but I get message that "scheduled game cannot be completed: League not in regular season".

Perhaps I set it up wrong.
Can I change the "current date" to late March? How?
Can I change the date for the scheduled games? How?
Or what should I do so I can play the scheduled games (not auto-play the games)? Thanks.

You can't just reset the day it is. May I ask, what kind of game it is (historic, standard, fictional) and what customizations you made - esp, to league milestones or the schedule? It seems like it doesn't know the offseason begun or that the offseason ever ends based on a missing milestone. Based on the info provided, that's the first place I'd look.

I posted this in your other thread:

If you click on the PLAY dropdown menu at the top of your screen, what options do you see? You should see options to Auto-Play Until... and Auto-Play Until Event...

I don't know the details of your game, but if your current date is 1/6, you should have the option of Auto-Playing until Preseason begins and Regular Season begins. Try selecting one of those, or - if you don't yet want to advance that far (although it sounds like you do) - try selecting Auto-Play Until... Next Month.

If that doesn't work, please try posting a screen shot of what's in the dropdown when you click PLAY. Also, what does it show to the right of the PLAY menu, in small font? For example, one of my games currently shows:

MLB Offseason | Wed. Jan 1st, 1913

Info Requested

Thanks. As suggested I tried auto-play until "opening day".
I get message shown in attachment (I always get same message when I try various auto-play options).

Info: To get a feel for how this stuff works, I tried to make a simple league (DSP-FL): 2 divisions with 2 teams in each division - 3 games between the 2 teams in each division - then the winners to play for championship.
The 4 teams are made up of historical great players.
The schedule appears correct; but I can't play any of the games - always getting same message that is shown in attachment.

The league is showing in playoff mode - did it not advance past the playoffs and into the off-season? Did you manually change the events around?

It's January and if you look next to the date at the top of the screen where hef was talking about, it says you are in the playoffs. I don't think the game is aware that the championship has been played.

Can you go to the League drop down menu, League News and then League Events. Then compare that list of events to a standard game. Is there an "Opening Day" marker? If so, are there any others missing? If you post the events screenshot, we'll look too.

EDIT: Hi, Matt. You beat me to it

I appreciate the help. I have spent hours trying to get this to work.

As requested, attached are:
1) Events List
2) League Reports - which shows 6 games played (my original intended schedule to try out OOTP) - do not know how that happened but guess I later used auto-play unintentionally. Thus, I am now in "Playoffs".

But even before I had unintentionally played the 6 games, I could not play the planned 6 games of the regular season. I would select "auto-play until opening day"; and then I got the same message I keep getting "Scheduled game cannot be completed: League not in regular season".

Can I delete the games played (couldn't find how) and use the setup I have and then play the intended 6 game schedule (if so, I guess I would start with auto-play until opening day; but before I kept getting the message "Scheduled game cannot be completed: League not in regular season")?

Or do I need to start over and recreate the setup I was trying to do?

My guess is that I need to start over; but I suppose there is something I selected or failed to select in the original setup. I have no idea what it was such that I kept getting the message "Scheduled game cannot be completed: League not in regular season".

Under standings, is there a playoff tree showing how far along it is? Are there any other leagues, major or minor?

1) Yes, it shows standings that reflect the 6 games in the screen shot I showed.
In addition, it now shows that 2 games in the Championship Series have been played.
2) There a 2 leagues - the one we are discussing and also the regular MLB league.

Obviously later in the process of trying to play the schedule I made, I started the game down the path of auto-play and it's taking place.

But again, in earlier attempts to play the games (before I somehow got to auto-play), I couldn't play that same schedule of games and got the message I've mentioned: "Scheduled game cannot be completed: League not in regular season". So, as mentioned, I would guess that I made incorrect settings in my original league setup.

It's possible that before you had regular season games on the calendar before it ran the opening day event, and then after the auto-play, it went right into playoff mode (if it didn't see any regular season games on the calendar, it may just have scheduled a few tiebreakers to sort of playoff spots and then advanced there).

Once you're already into playoff mode and have some games played, you can't really go back to regular season mode. If you have a backup from before simming, you can restore to that. Otherwise you may have to try again and make sure you are careful when advancing.
