Stealing on Full Counts?

Unless I am missing something (I'm hoping so, since this is a somewhat significant strategy in baseball), I've noticed you can't steal a base with 2 strikes WITHOUT your batter automatically taking the pitch.

In real life, unless the hitter gets the take sign, they have the green light to swing away. In OOTP, if you click "swing away," you can't click "steal," and vice versa.

So, on a full count for example, a great time to steal- as you have the chance for ball 4 and being safe anyway at 2nd, or a strikeout which could still move the runner...or a ball in play and avoid the double play... in OOTP if you do this, the batter just automatically takes the pitch.

Am I missing something? If not, how has this not been addressed through the many versions of the game?

Is this not what the “Send Forced Runner(s) does? I assumed it always sent the forced runners, but also had the batter “swing away”

Send forced I think still has the player take the pitch (it's basically stealing without checking whether they get a good lead).

But Run & Hit basically does that. It will send the runner, and give the option for the player to swing on the play.

I've never played "one pitch" but I would think "run and hit" would do what you want?

From the manual..
Quote:
Run & Hit The runners will leave before the ball is hit, and the batter has the option of trying to make contact or taking the pitch. This option is usually used only when the runner has a good chance of stealing a base.
Matt responded as I was checking the manual to verify my thoughts before posting.

I've used "Send Forced" many times with a full count and the batter does swing away.

But in one pitch H&R causes way too many foul balls. (I was just about to start a thread on this).

Send Forced will keep you out of a double play if the ball is hit on the ground with less than two outs.
