We’ll never know for sure
but maybe we’ll wonder. My opinion…is not expressed.

I think we have a pretty, pretty clear picture now.
What a terrible blow to the "Guilty As Accused" folk! Finally we can consider people innocent until proven guilty agai- yeah no, who am I even kidding? ![]() ![]() This is even worse than I thought all the time. I thought at least the punches were real, but some like it kinky. Who am I to ...? ![]() Classy girl.

This is why, again, I said it is not the leagues' job to police society. It is society's job to police the leagues.
And as far as players go, they need to do their thinking between their ears & not below their belts. "Hell hath no fury" & all that. Get some ho-ho mad at you & she will be all up in your benjamins. And the mainstream media ain't interested in revealing the truth. Only the scandal. I have yet to hear one commentator ask in the DeShaun Watson case how not one of his victims was able to find any of the numerous police precincts in Houston before they all managed to find the same lawyer. If I had the millions these players had I would be filming everything like I was making a documentary.

Yep, we'll likely never know. Where things stand now is that both sides seem pretty slimy.
If what Bauer has claimed & now presented is true - do we have any way of knowing? - then it certainly takes some of the harshness off of the non-legal judgement of him. But he's still a strange and not-exactly-popular potential teammate. So is it enough to where we'll find him at a spring training facility next pre-season? |

There is nothing stopping a team from signing him. They just don't want the headache and 30 teams do not view his talent as worth having that sort of headache around.
And it was more of the Dodgers players and coaching staff that were against LA offering him a contract. Apparently he is not a popular guy in the clubhouse (in fact, most described him as a cancerous asshole) and many players and coaches openly told the front office they did not want him back, thus in January they DFA'd him and the 29 other teams did not offer him a contract. Now this offseason may be different. But he has been in 5 different organizations now and is universally hated by all 5. And these front offices talk to one another. There is a reason despite being a serviceable MLB pitcher he is not on a roster right now. It is possible to asshole your way out of a league no matter how talented you are. And Bauer is a too big of an asshole for his talent level. Last edited by rudel.dietrich; 10-03-2023 at 04:14 PM. |

That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of image-rehab effort - perhaps on the down-low with the goal not to rehab his public abuser image, but to address his reputation in a potential clubhouse - undertaken, and then some GM takes a flier on him with a spring non-roster invite... I mean, all other issues aside, by spring 2024 it will 2 3/4 years since he's thrown an MLB pitch, and at age 33. |

These are just rumors, but two clubs are prepared to offer Bauer over $17M next season:

Hoping to see him on the Southside, especially if we keep Clev.

The world thought Johnny Depp was an abuser too due to allegations from Amber Heard, allegations enthusiastically supported and promoted by the "news" media. Only the court case demonstrated something else entirely, legal proceedings anyone could watch for themselves.

I'd advise anyone interested to hear the calls/vids on your own w/o letting the NY Post describe things. The are slightly more tame than the London tabloids.
I will say this: We all want life to be like the comic books. A clear villain & a clear hero. Little in life is black & white. It is a galaxy full of gray. What I was sure of all along in the Bauer case was that we had 2 freaks who had a falling out and somebody was looking for payback. So as I said before, it is not the leagues' job to police society. It is society's job to police the leagues. These assorted business execs don't have the ability to navigate the complex factors that come into play when it comes to relationships & mental illness. And their guilty until proven innocent approach has unfairly made it easy for athletes to be manipulated in what sometimes, SOMETIMES, is nothing more than a lover's quarrel or a one night stand regretted the next morning. On the other side of the coin, athletes need to wake up & stop doing their thinking below their belt. Cause for some of these ho-ho's these players ain't nothing but a Visa.

Would that be
Quote:
“Being an absolute WHORE to try to get in on his 51 million” or the part where he said they had a safe word and that she asked him to do it and she didn’t deny either with the POLICE recording it? Should he have beaten her? No, not even if she begged for it. Abuse implies lack of consent by definition. She had the ability to consent and apparently did so. Even the police and prosecutors reached that conclusion. What do you know that they don’t?
