Baseball "What if...?

People say Michael Jordan would score 40+ a night if he played in today's NBA.

How many K's would Nolan Ryan have in today's MLB?

Would he have 6-7000 because baseball no longer believes in shortening your swing to make contact after 2 strikes?

Or........would they be about the same because hitters are more used to 98+MPH pitches & pitchers don't throw as many innings?

In theory, isn't this something OOTP should be able to answer for us?

Take prime Nolan Ryan's ratings, create him in 2023 with 2023 modifiers, and see what happens.

Seems to me that's the case. It also seems to me Cobra doesn't play OOTP.

Probably fewer, since management gets their knickers in a twist when a guy approaches 180 innings.

You would have to pitch him every fourth game, with a lower usage in relievers. Wouldn't be possible with a modern day pitching staff.

Ryan threw 235 pitches in his 19-K game. Good luck getting even halfway there nowadays.

He'd be about $200M or $300M richer, and wouldn't care less if he had 100 fewer wins and 1500 fewer strikeouts.
