Can't change pitchers

I am new to OOTP and have now played 4 seasons of the game I setup. The first 3 seasons went great but in season 4, I cannot replace my pitchers. I try to drag and drop the new relief pitcher but it will not take. I can simulate play for the rest of the game in the AI will replace pitchers as it sees fit. Not sure if I screwed up some setting or it is some sort of a bug. BTW, I have chosen no warmup for relievers so the drag and drop should work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brakemanbob

relievers must face 3 batters before you can replace them in the inning.

Thanks for your reply. I can't replace my starting pitcher no matter how many pitches he has thrown.

Make sure that you have given yourself control of substitutions.

Did you by chance hire a new manager? Managers have things they will allow you to do and things they won't allow you to mess with. Or maybe your manager's reputation has improved enough that his preferences did too? Meaning while he allowed you to meddle last year he no longer does?

There is a legacy setting (Global settings> GM only players are always in control of lineups and hiring. Legacy Mode. bottom left side of the page ) that allows you to be in control, ie override manager's that are to set to not allow you to make moves.

Also you can't change pitchers when you are batting. You can pinch hit for him but you can't put in a new pitcher yet. With the DH you can only change him when you are on the field.

Thanks for all of your help. I found out that the pitching strategy control was set for AI and when I changed it to human control everything worked fine. Not sure how I changed it, but, like I said earlier, I am new to the game and must have inadvertently hit the wrong button(?). Thanks again. So far it is a great game and I am enjoying it and I really appreciate having this forum to help me along.

The forums are GREAT here. I'm on my 3rd version. If not for the fine people here I would have stopped after the first.
