Historical sim: Nolan Ryan has only a fastball and is bullpen only

This is with a 1-year recalculation base. Nolan Ryan only throws a fastball, which relegates to bullpen duty in the game. This must be a new bug because I've never noticed it before.

This feels like some kind of cardinal sin, like if Johnny Bench was shoved to first base for his entire career.

I cannot reproduce this problem in a new save, even with the same settings so I'm not sure what to tell you. In saves starting in 1966, Ryan as a rookie starts with just a fastball but as soon as the save progresses to 1967 he gets two more pitches (slider & sinker).

You might want to chalk this up as a non-reproduceable error.

He probably shouldn't import with just one pitch to begin with though. So something might be odd there. We'll take a look at this.

Having trouble recreating this. When I start a 1966 season, he imports correctly with three pitches.

Can you let us know the settings you use that get him to import with just a fb in 66?

oh, glad you are looking into this. I was willing to forget about it since I couldn't reproduce it.

Start a New Historical Game, 1966, no minors... just accept default settings and start the game.

Go to the Mets and Ryan is on their reserve roster. He looks like below:

EDIT: if after starting the game I switch to a 3-year recalculation base, Ryan has 2 pitches: Fastball and Slider. A 5-year base gives the same two pitches: Fastball & Slider.

BUT... get this. If I then switch Pitcher Stamina from "current season" to career, Ryan has 4 pitches! (Fastball, Slider, Changeup. Sinker). Then if I switch the recalculation back to the orignal settings of 1-year and stamina back to 'current season', HE KEEPS THE FOUR PITCHES. So it seems like it might be more related to the Pitcher Stamina setting than the recalcuations base.
