An Alternate America - A Baseball Story

This timeline pretty much imagines a world where New England gets stopped by New Netherland, Germany colonizes the South, Louisiana is still French, California is Spanish, and the USA is only the Midwest and Virginia. Yeah, this is a weird timeline. The only one I truly made up is the German Southlands one, I needed something to happen to the South, so I gave it to Germany. I guess maybe they were more serious colonially. Anyway, that's pretty much the timeline. "How does baseball tie into it though?" you might be asking. Well, New England invents the sport as a faster edition of Cricket, as New England is way more British than in our own timeline. Eventually though, the sport becomes popular enough (and different enough) to deserve it's own league. By 1871, that's exactly what happens, and the New England Base Ball Association is formed. Here are the teams for the first season:

Boston Athletic
Worcester Ruby Legs
Hartford Baseball Club
Bridgeport Baseball Club
New Haven Baseball Club
Concord Lions
Providence Baseball Club
Boston Reds
Montpellier Baseball Club
Portland Athletic

Most team names are going to have no s had the end because English football clubs don't, and I want this to be like that except with no Promotion and Relegation. That's all I'm going to explain for now, if you need anything clarified, just let me know. Next up is the Spring Training Recap.

Currently, Providence, Worcester, and Boston Athletic are in the hunt for the championship, as their are no playoffs in the New English League. Their are definitely other teams that could win, however. Anyway, here are the standings if you want to look at them yourself:

Providence Base Ball Club ended up winning the first New England Base Ball Association championship in league history. Second place went to Boston Athletic, and third went to the Boston Reds. Here are the standings from the first season:

Currently the Reds and Hartford are in a title fight, with both of them tied at 34-25. Their is still also a shot that the Ruby Legs win. Here are the standings for this season by the draft:
