New Message in Players FA Offer?
I think I have not seen this before. Have I missed this or is this new? The player responds with an offer from another team....
If it is new, I like it!! |

This is definitely not new. Players have talked about offers from other teams for quite a while now. Yes, it gives you an opportunity to keep negotiating and beat other teams with an offer. However, be aware that players might not be 100% honest. Pay attention to what they say because they might imply that another team has made a better offer, but that may not be the case.
I've had players demand more money from me, claiming that they had a good or better offer from another team. But, after I decided not to offer any more money, they later came back and wanted to start negotiations again. Clearly, that better offer didn't really exist, or it fell through after the other team withdrew it. However, don't count on that happening. If they truly have a better offer, they'll take it. So, if you want to make sure that you will get a player, go ahead and offer him a bit more money. It usually doesn't take much to beat the other team. |

the player says he thinks "a better offerf" is a minor league contract.
How is that even possible? I have been getting that response to players to whom I have extended minor league deals for many versions now, and it still makes to sense.

No, in this case, the player said that he received a "good" offer. That's an important difference in the language. This is an instance of what I mentioned above, where players try to negotiate for a better deal, even if the offer from another team isn't actually better. In this case, the player seems to be indicating that the other offer is similarly "good," and he's trying to see if the human GM will offer a signing bonus or a minor league deal with an MLB option, to beat out the other team.
