Player usage setup based on real life
I previously (OOTP 22) was in the process of doing a replay of the Milwaukee Brewers history. I used real transactions/lineups to give what I was hoping would be the most realistic replay. A couple of issues kept coming up and got me so frustrated I quit. Other teams would have unrealistic player usage. Players that were September callups stay up with teams the full year and become the main pinch hitters/relievers, etc. Guys that played 15 games would play 120, not a lot of AB's or innings, but a ton of games. I set the usage penalties, but can't find what I set them at, but I believe I lowered them. That didn't seem to impact this issue. Another issue that popped up was relievers that would pitch say 60 games in a year wouldn't even be active the majority of the year, while pitchers that pitched in 10 games would be.
Is there a way to set a teams strategy to play to say 110% of the usage or something like that? What is the best workaround for these issues. I love the game itself and would like to do a full replay of the Milwaukee history starting with the one year 1901 Brewers, then have history play out until the Braves come to town, then the Brewers. Also, is there a way to have the actual managers who managed the teams in the years occur? Would like the real managers playout through history. Thanks for any thoughts on the best way to do this. |

Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to reduce the adjust/weaken thresholds.
Concerning Sept callups playing all season perhaps you could edit them a six month injury. |

What weaken adjust settings are you using? If you want to make sure utility players aren’t used as full time player I would set them pretty high.
Maybe 250/150 for hitters and 40/25 for pitchers. |

Thanks for the responses. I can't see what I set the weaken adjust settings at when I setup the league. I do know that I dropped them per the recommendation in the game.
Wouldn't raising the adjustments do the opposite and make it more likely that someone who played very little is played more often by the AI? |

Quote:
The game recommendations reductions for those who are using single season ratings. It doesn't appear you're doing that.. The recommendations from Garlon on the board to reduce them are to get the results he wants. This may not match what you want. If you increase the numbers that makes more players qualify for adjustments or reductions. |

I do use single season ratings. I want each year to play out as close to actual for the year as possible.
