Suggestion for new card type

The latest LE (Limited Edition) card (Mark Buehrle, 2007) made me wish that there were LE (Limited Effectiveness) cards instead.

According to the release description, the Buehrle card (96 PVR) was recognizing his 2007 no-hitter. However, when you look at the rest of his season, it was pretty mediocre and certainly not worthy of the rating.

So, perhaps it should be a Limited Effectiveness card...where during the month of April it acts as a 96, but the rest of the season it acts like a 66. Basically, it would be a variable rating, somewhat like Live cards are, only you would know which part of the season the rating(s) would be active.

(Or is this what LE cards already do? I've never had one. And, actually, it was the Atlee Hammaker card which got me thinking about this. A great April, but a mediocre season shouldn't give you a 100 card.)

They're making cards off of one month of performance

So those cards will be just fine as SP. They did this regularly a few years ago with monthly issues focusing on players of the month and missions related to that theme.

Right. And what I’m suggesting is for those cards to only be effective for that month in the PT season. Make them “variable-rate” cards.

So every card has separate ratings for each month? For simplicity, April would be all games played on Monday regardless of the in-game calendar date and so on. Then you could have Monday meta cards and Tuesday meta cards and even Sunday meta cards for great playoff performances. The whales who are micro-managers would love it.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. And us mortals who luck into good cards (yet to happen this season) and also happen to be micro-managers, would have something to do while the whales race past us.

I had an idea like that years ago with "career" cards. Maybe, rare like LE cards are, but Sandy Koufax would start out as a rookie in 1955 and week by week (a PT week, that is) his ratings change according to his actual career. Then a non-whale could play out the bad years and sell for substantial amount for its 1961 and later years. After 1966 the card goes back to rookie, but no player would be allowed to use the same player's career card twice, so it would have to be sold to someone else.
