Fictional MLB Baseball Futures (2046-)

I'm picking up an OOTP22 dynasty that i'v been maintaining for a while, where I started an MLB league in 1901 and have stewarded it slowly into 2046, with a bevy of changes along the way including a ton of franchise moves, weird historical quirks and whatever else I felt like doing at the time.

I normally play OOTP was a Commish-mode fly-by where I'm just following the stories and seeing what's going on in the league, stopping occasionally to follow players. This dynasty actually used real players until it didn't, so there's the nice angle of us having a historical foundation to follow with names you'll find familiar.

One of the other quirks of how I play, is I like to juice the ratings so that it's kinda hard to use ratings to determine who is good, because akin to real life, I feel like everyone is world class and the players who aren't are a lot worse.

These ratings make it harder to predict results from looking at stats alone. This league had elite players followed by a whole generate of duds, which meant the stars of that era (2020-present) kind of lingered forever, but OOTP24 made it easier to get rid of the dead weight and start mass-retiring guys and finding other ways to keep the league fresh.

I'm not sure how i'll run this story, I think a mix of following the league as i like to do, while also considering taking over a franchise and seeing what interesting things I can do to move them successfully year after year.

The Vegas Golden Knights expansion story kind of inspired me lately to take over an OOTP franchise where it has a real name and a cap I could buy, so I'm not sure which team I'll take over.

My current MLB universe is at 44 teams, I think we're going to expand to 48 with 3 divisions per league and keep it there, the playoffs currently are 18 teams and I don't intend to expand to 20 teams (yet) but I'm sort of invested in taking over an expansion team and running through a few years and getting immersed in some of the players of this era of the game.

I'm a big fan of pushing the edges of OOTP, so I tend to bolster the global talent of baseball to places that aren't baseball countries so you'll see some really weird stuff in this story assuming I write it out. I also tend to play pretty fast, because I don't really like wasting time.

I haven't decided the format yet for the expanded league, I'm tempted to get really wild about it and make it division champs only like old-school baseball even though that's modern baseball counter-intuitive.

The last expansion team I spent any real time with were the Tampa Bay Tarpons who have had other names at times (Tampa Bay Mariners, too)

They've won 7 championships since 2022 when they were founded and 14 post-season appearances.

I've done a team capsule on their standouts:

Rather than expand the majors more, I think I'm going to export several major league clubs and have them joined by a few others into a separate "Players League" that competes separately from the majors, but has major league status. It's hard to follow the majors once it gets past around 36 teams, so I'm going to back to 36 teams or even 32 because it's hard to win a World Series with so many teams too and I just want more immersion, but also a counterveiling major league to take on more of the talent I have floating around my league and a place where we can set some new records and expand gradually.

So we'll start that league in 2047. I'm not sure which teams will leave MLB yet, but I'm considering letting 14 teams league for the new major league (Federal League) and then adding a few expansion clubs (Atlanta, Cleveland are among the cities with no representation in my current league) to start us off with a new history and then I can kind of work from there.

This idea just sprouted, but I like it as a way to get myself re-immersed into this universe.
