Availability of players in non-licensed leagues

They dissappear from the game if going to a league not included.

IE try to find Osuna in OOTP24

Interesting. I couldn't check because the game was installed on a different laptop that died. I'm looking forward to getting OOTP25. But it's disappointing that former MLB players simply disappear from the game once they sign in a non-licensed league.

OOTP TEAM: Is is not possible to simply dump these players into the MLB Free Agent pool instead of disappearing them?

I think they used to but since last years league removal mess it appears they are being more cautious and only using MLB players.
Even gone as far as removing Wader Franco from the game

It's because of this that I'm trying to make a go of past version saves and quick starts and only importing for new features.

I think they would if they could but they can't so they won't. The work around would be to import such players into the game manually. Even if you have to go back to an import year that was an MLB season, adjust their birthday to age him, tweak the stats you expect them to output and regen the ratings via the player editor.

I'm still fairly new to this game, so forgive my ignorance.

With Create a Player, I can use the editor to make a copy of a disappeared player. But his career stats can't be input, as far a I know.

OOTP Team: How about this as a potential work-around: If a former MLB player signs with a non-licensed league, you retire him in the game. That way, those of us who want to include that player in our game know where to find him.

Commish mode. Free Agent list, far right side drop down. Import player. When the pop-up comes up use his Baseball Reference website code, bauertr01 and 2021 as the year. He will come in as a FA. Select him and correct his birth year to make the correct age. Edit anything else you like too. When importing also select “keep years stats” in the checkbox.

If you need more info on importing real people see the manual.

I wish there was a way, this year I BARELY played OOTP, I think a lot of it was because of not having all the leagues that we use to have, and it kind of just sucked having all those leagues,players,etc for so long and then not having them(even though it happened at the near end of OOTP22)

I'm contemplating if I'm even going to buy the new version this year, but it'll be like a year and a half removed, so if I do buy it, I'll be adjusted by then.
