Contracts for over 30 players
What is your thinking on contract extensions for players in their thirties? At what point do you consider a player too old to extend?

I think it’s a case by case basis. If a player is producing at the age of 30 and has a good track record I’ll probably get it done. My biggest hesitation is always when a player is asking for high dollar and that will run them past the age of 35. At that point I start thinking if the short term gain is worth the long term pain. since most players fall off the table at 34 i give them a 6 year deal with 2 year team option that way i can manage if i want to dump player after 34

My usual procedure is a three year contract with two team option years, if I can swing it. That way I'm only ever on the hook for a little bit of risk with the potential to extend if they perform well.
