I recently started a save where I’m the Bruins operating in the normal hard cap system of 82.5 Million. I’m confused as to how this cap works because things aren’t adding up. For example, I received a notification in late September saying that the offseason 10% cap cushion would be removed come the regular season and go back to 82.5 M. I was over the cap by 3 million dollars, didn’t do anything yet I’m still allowed to sim.

If this is based on your current active roster, meaning the 23 skaters on your active roster needing to be under 82.5 M then that would have made sense (because injured players on the injured list don’t count towards the hard cap). What doesn’t make sense is that the New York Rangers for example are at 84 Million in cap based on their active roster (actually only 21 players) so that puts them 2 Million over the cap if I’m understanding correctly.

Maybe I’m not understanding the cap correctly, but if someone can explain it that would be great. Thanks!

Does it say -3 million in cap space at the bottom of the cap obligations page?
