Cannot Get Offers for players in 05-06
I tried playing a Historical Mode game with starting as HC/GM for the 05-06 Toronto Maple Leafs.
For some reason, I cannot choose "Get Offers" from the Trade Options right-click menu for ANY of my players, regardless of their contract status. I haven't had this issue with any other game; I've started a few in the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s and have been able to do that problem-free. Something about 05-06 is blocking me? It seems to happen regardless of: - Challenge being on or off - Commissioner Mode is on or off - Choosing my stats/profile vs. leaving as default For example, I tried starting the season, turned on commissioner mode and took over Toronto. I also tried starting with Penguins. Same issue every time (unable to choose Get Offers) I tried starting 06-07, and the problem disappeared; I was able to Get Offers normally. So it looks like something to do with the 05-06 season? For further context I am playing on Mac via Steam. |

Huh, that's a weird one. If I sim forward from a 2005 start to 2006-07, Shop Player starts working again. That'd make me suspect a data error in the league rules for 2005-06, but when I start in 2004, shop player still works when I get to 05-06, so the rules are working fine then (and I can't spot any obvious problem with them in an 05-06 start.) Going to have to examine this one a little more closely, that season is the first one with a salary cap, so that may have something to do with it but I'm not sure what.

Thanks for looking into it!
I also had a weird issue when I started 04-05. The lockout didn't happen, and we played the season as normal. Then suddenly July 1st, teams traded like CRAZY; I saw Joe Thornton go for a 4th round pick. I realized my team budget was suddenly showing -$180 million or so, and several others (including Boston) showing massive negative budget gaps. |

That's normal - the cap kicks in in 05-06, so a lot of teams are way over the limit and have to dump salary desperately. I've been trying to come up with a way to make the transition less abrupt, but don't want to hardcode it too explicitly, since some people may opt to change the cap rules at different points. Might have to replace it with some kind of special compliance buyout if a cap appears in a league that didn't previously have one, that way it'll at least target the worst contracts first.
Found the 05-06 Shop Player problem, it'll be fixed in the update. |
