Am I the only one who wishes that the jersey mesh mapping wasn't there?
I know that OOTP23 went to a new uniform graphic format for this version, and while it should be a major upgrade over what had been used for, I think, well over a decade, I have one major problem with it and that has to do with custom graphics.
When I try to add anything other than a standard straight-across wordmark or small logo to the new version of the uniform shirt graphic, even after making sure both graphical maps are in place the elements end up warped because of how the jersey mesh ends up mapping everything out.
The above is a map of the 3d mesh from Jorin's OOTP23 Jersey and Pants template, available in OOTP Mods > OOTP Mods - Logos, Graphics, and HTML
No matter what I do, when I try to add something like a vintage shield or other element that might take up a bit more of the jersey than something that's fairly standard, the straight lines become noticeably crooked after the mapping process and they end up showing that way in player pictures as well.
What I hope for in the future, if it's possible, is that the mesh mapping either goes away or becomes straight and uniform. While the previous custom graphic format could be a bit of a pain because of its rather angular sections, when you loaded a custom jersey in-game it mapped itself onto a player or member of team personnel rather straight and without much in the way of bends or wobbles.
Because of this, I've gone back to using the old jersey graphics for now because the end product simply ends up looking cleaner on a player. While it's true that the front of a jersey doesn't map itself properly from the waist down, that's easy to workaround in a way to render it virtually unnoticeable.
If I happen to be doing something wrong, I would like to know because as far as I'm aware I'm doing everything right by the book when it comes to making custom graphics: Diffuse Map, Normal Map, etc.
