Unable to change lines/lineups

I just purchased this game for the first time. I've played OOTP for years. I'm currently unable to change lines or lineups. It's possible there's something I'm not doing right. I have watched some tutorials and I worked with other people on reddit to try and make sure I wasn't making any dumb mistakes and they suggested I posted here after thinking there may be a bug.
The players are dressed. My cursor where you select the players from the dressed list doesn't look the same as I see other people playing on youtube. That could be a setting, I'm not sure, but I just keep the regular cursor and it doesn't recognize anything in the dressed list. I don't have the ability to drag any players on these screens. Also when I click the check boxes, it doesn't do anything. At this point I'm not sure if I'm missing a roster configuration thing or if I've hit a bug.

So one of two things is happening;

(1) Which version did you buy?

(2) Did you go GM only? If you did, you don't get to control lines. That's the coaches job.

I'm playing on Windows and downloaded directly to my cpu. I hope that can answer that question.
I'm GM and Coach. Lineups are assigned to my user.

I think what Adam meant was which version did you buy, Steam, FastSpring etc. IIRC, they had to disable drag and drop on the FastSpring version due to CTD's. If that's what you have, you have to manually click to edit your lines. (Drag and drop does work on the Steam version).

I don't know the answer to that question. I bought it on your website and downloaded it directly to my windows cpu. Can you describe the manually clicking process in more detail please?

Click the Boxes besides each player name, and then click the spot where you would want them to go. They will appear.

That doesn't work. Nothing happens.

bump. I'm not able to get the check boxes to work either. Click either in the dressed list or the lines section for first check and then the lines section for second check. Nothing occurs.
