How to Improve Draft Pool

What are some thing to do, and/or check currently, to slightly improve the quality of players in the draft pool?

  • Not expecting every team to get an elite 5-star player in Round One, just want to improve overall quality
  • Do NOT want to increase the number of players created to skew the bell curve into creating more very good to elite talent at the top (with a glut of never-will-be players at the bottom)
Already checked:
  1. PCMs are default across the board 1.000
  2. The "Disable development of draft-eligible players" setting is not checked
  3. Amateur draft pool origin essentially 99% top quality players US/Canada and 1% random origin
Obviously, with multiple future draft classes now in the game, I don't want to screw this up, but would a slight upward tweak to a couple of the PCMs produce a second or third elite player (assuming there is one already) and a handful of other very good players, before the truckload of average players in any given draft, be the way to go?

As far as I am aware - and, please, someone correct me if I am not - the best way to achieve this is by ticking up the PCMs. In other words, if you set them to say 1.1 across the board, your created fictional players should on average and in general terms improve by 10%.

But beware, from my experience this can have a fairly drastic effect. So two things I'd suggest you keep in mind:

1. don't go crazy - maybe like 5% (1.05) max, and probably less is better - until you see the effect it is having and then make some fine tuning changes,. Even then let me warn you it can get out of control real quick, so keep a close eye on it;

and

2. once you are happy with the general range observed in 1., consider manually making the Draft pool strength vary from year to year, so maybe have 1.01 settings one year then 1.035 then 1.02 or something like that, or even set certain elements EG pitching stuff high one year - this will give you some nice variety among your player pool.

Just my $0.02's worth. Good luck!
