9th inning heroics

I play my games out and it seems like I lose a lot of games in the 9th inning.
Anyone else notice this.....

For me, it’s the first inning. My ace has an ERA under 3, and he always gives up his runs in the first inning. But it only happens when I play the game out. If I sim the game, he usually gives up no runs. But have not seen any 9th inning issues.

I just endured a NYG rally from six runs down to win against my Phillies on a walk-off home run by Mel Ott. This is the 1938 Season, with no color bar. Satchel Paige started for me and went seven strong innings before tiring. I have a decent bullpen (NOT the original 1938 Phils’ bullpen), but two guys just imploded. So yeah, it happens, and you tend to remember the ones that got away.

Apropos of nothing, Josh Gibson hit an inside-the-park home run to deepest CF in this game at the Polo Grounds. You’ll recall the “notch” in CF where I believe the clubhouse entrances were. Where Willie Mays was heading when he made his catch in the 1954 WS. Josh’s drive went over the CF’s head and rolled all the way to the wall. The graphics for once looked very realistic, as he flew around the bases and easily made it home.
