OOTP leaves non-affiliates SOL?
Thought I'd run with the non-affiliate option in some MiLs. Those teams immediately plummeted to their basements, like buried under. Rosters were not managed at all by AI, had to manually add fictional players at least once, and they eventually struggled to get to .250 baseball.
Now, thought I'd add a winter league or two. But cannot find a way to get non-affiliate roster players onto a winter league roster. Can[t do it via league settings. Tried tournament setups and can[t do it there neither. So the non-affiliate in OOTP is basically a non-team? |

What you definitely want to do though is turn down injury settings in global settings during winter leagues. At modern day injuries, what is what I run during the MLB season, winter league was creating a humanitarian crisis. Low injuries and low fatigue seem to work well. No more multiple 3 or 13 month injuries each week....

Everything you said is correct. There's no way to get non-affiliated players on a tournament team unless they're created as temporary players. And I completely believe you when you said minor league non affiliated teams don't do anything because why would they they have no financials or anything. So I doubt the AI is built to sign players. I think you have to manually manage them unless you put them in Indy leagues so they actually do something

I regularly add unaffiliated teams the year before I expand so the new teams have a minor league system waiting for them. I've never paid attention to the tournament thing, but I've never gotten roster errors either so the AI must do something with them. (unless this is a new defect in v.23 that I haven't run into yet).

And that was just AAA teams I was looking over. Lower levels also had a bunch of non-affs and they were all managed well. At least one won the series and 3 or 4 at least went into playoffs.
