Player Unavailable for Postseason Roster - Why?

I signed an International Free Agent Pitcher to a multi-year contract. He has been on my 40 man roster since February of the previous year. Unfortunately he has not been playoff eligible for either of the past two postseasons. Is this a bug? Do I need to disable Challenge Mode, and is that even possible? How do I fix?

I am currently in September 2043 in this Franchise. The pitcher signed his contract on 02/09/2042.

He has to have played on your active roster at some point before roster expansion.

That's not how the post season roster works as far as I know. A player is just required to have been on the 40 man roster prior to roster expansion to be eligible.

So I'm not sure what the issue is, I know challenge mode throws up some weird things from time to time, but I've never used it myself personally.

Without knowing the specifics of the game you've set up, it could be worth just having a look at your league settings as well, given you're in 2043 or whatever, the league may have evolved and some settings may have changed.

Otherwise maybe it is worth throwing it in the bug report forum and seeing if one of the admins can have a look at it for you.

You're correct. This is the rule for the 2022 season (with some exceptions and additions): https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transac...es-eligibility

Previously (pre-Covid), there were other stipulations. For example, any player who was any of the below at midnight on 31 August:

• on the 25-man roster, or
• on the DL, or
• on bereavement leave, or
• on military active duty

There were also some stipulations based on injuries (DL lengths).

I'm thinking the settings are wonky in challenge mode...maybe reverting to pre-2022 rules?

Thank you for the information. I disabled the setting since it is buggy in this situation. The player in question was on my active MLB and 40-man roster for the entirety of two seasons. He was ineligible for playoffs in both seasons.
