Allow for automatic rehab assignments for injured players

Imagine you are in an online league, a SP gets injured for 3-4 weeks. Your pitcher is getting better, you think you want them to get one rehab start because of the duration they are out.

The sim comes in and they are still injured for 2 more days. You want them to pitch their rehab game this week, but you can't rehab them yet, they have to stay on the IL. So you wait for the next week set them in the minors and they get 2 rehab starts because it was a whole week, and then the next week you call them up and they just pitched the day before so you have to slot that in somehow into your rotation.

You could've used 7 day lineups or some other strategy settings in the minor league team to make them only start one, but that's tricky and time consuming for just a AAA team.

What if they can automatically get a rehab start?

After the sim they are injured, you set them on the IL, then the last week of their injury they go down to AAA automatically and pitch one game, and the next week they are rested and ready for MLB again over a week before they were in the above scenario, able to get an extra 2 starts in.

No doubt you have a good idea. But it strays into the whole “philosophical” area of whether you want the game to do things for you, or you want to have full control. (Admittedly your suggestion of an automatic rehab start would be the default, so that as GM you could still control…). I like the fact that the game forces you to think like a real GM, with all of these details. So, I will send the injured/recovering guy to AAA or AA, rejigger the daily lineups to make sure he gets a start, and try to time that start so, if things go well, he is back in the MLB rotation at the right place. But, hey, I’m (mostly) retired, and have time for this stuff. I realize others may not have the time to micromanage to this extent, or may not want that level of detail. Maybe a toggle option for “automatic rehab start”?

For online leagues, this is a decent suggestion. I'd even say above average.
For a player coming off the IL mid SIM, having a head start of 2-3 days in a rehab assignment vs sitting and waiting to be told what to do would be outstanding.

Even if 2 days coming off a tooth ache, he's doing something.

Rehab assignments don't count against roster limits and won't stop a SIM, so I don't see a down side to this, maybe only that we're leaving it up to the AGM to place at a level (AAA, AA, etc) vs handpicking where to send them.
