Missions

So I’ve only played the last two versions of OOTP. Are the missions structured extremely different from year to year? Like last year, we basically needed all the reward cards to complete future missions. Is that the case most years?

One would think

I have even refrained from selling some of the bad toppers who are not affiliated with a team, but I think I should reconsider that.

As an aside, the toppers this year for the live missions are pretty poor. Last year you got Young and Trammell, who were worthwhile to use for a long, long time.

A lot of people were clamoring for less perfect cards because the early ones last year were diluted and unusable by mid-season. So we have mid-90s cards serving the same purpose, except this time I can’t cash them in for a cool 20k. This is exactly the point I was trying to make whenever someone posted that there were “too many perfects” or that “LIVE cards are useless.” They’re not to those of us who’d prefer 20k to 4k for the same performance. Some were so hung up on the status of the number in the corner that they didn’t care to see that it didn’t matter.

My toppers are performing exactly the same early on in leagues as the live toppers from ‘22. They’re merely worth less.

I apologize for my rant… to answer the question: yes, they differ. Last year’s rewards were a lot more tied together than other years that I’ve played, but you often don’t know the direction they’ll go or what will be required of previous rewards until they announce a new release. It’s always a bit of a dice roll with holding or selling these cards early.

Agreed, especially since the toppers aren't packable. If you sell one, you might have a hard time replacing it should it be included in some future mission.

You got that right

I sold Cito Gaston last year and never did get him back.

Well...you could've had him for about 70,000 points after he popped up on the Gwynn mission.

No need to apologize as far as I'm concerned. I agree with you 100%.

As far as hold vs. sell, you had to hold last year because of build-a-legend. This year I'm selling early.
