Farm Team in Custom Game

I have started the season on my custom game that includes AHL and CHL, etc. I have no farm team affiliation, therefore my extra players are sent to Reserve List and don't appear to be playing anywhere.

Is there a way I can establish a farm team affiliation where my Reserve List players can play?

I can rely on the stars and ratings prior to the season, but once the season is going I rely on performance for slotting players into the line up as well as promotions/relegations.

Related question, I am relying on the game ratings to gauge overall performance. Am I making a mistake in doing so? Is there a better gauge for evaluating performance?

You can expand the AHL to give yourself a farm team
