Gambling on one player with all PP?
I just spent 875,000 on TY Cobb!
I am not an FTP player as I don't have the time or patience to make this happen. I may spend some money during the PP sale, but I am not a whale that can spend millions of PP on the 5 Hall of fame cards. I did manage to finish FH3 on my main Seawolves account. But I found some FH3 players underperformed. I tried FH3 righty cheese and ended up getting relegated to Gold. So gone are Mays, Aaron, Hornsby. Griffey was good in Defense and Williams had great batting rating, but both could barely hit .220. Bottomline, I sold some real talent to get ONE player. COBB! I am not sure accumulating all that PP and selling talent for one player was worth it? This is the most I ever spent on a player outside the cost of the collections. What do you think? Sacrificing a lot for one player a good or bad move?

Tough call.
All my logic circuits remind me that one player only gets to the plate 3-4 times a game, so he usually can't win a game by himself. On the other hand, logic also tells me there's enough variation in a single game that even average players can out perform Hall of Famers - the question is "How many times?". If it was me, I wouldn't have done it - but who knows? Let us know how it goes.

We’re late in the cycle so I say “Why not?”. Earlier on in the season I would never do this.

Exactly. This hurts my collection mission capability in January, but at this point of the game I need ONE reliable CF to go with the other FH3 talent.

Really depends on the rest of your roster. I spent a week about a month ago in Gold, and was surprised with the number of teams who still didn’t have an entire roster of perfects. I’d think having Cobb with a bunch of diamonds would maybe hold its own in Gold, but would get dusted in Diamond.

I do have Tris, which is a great hitter, but I want a range better than 100 in CF. Too bad Tris cannot play LF? He is my permanent DH and backup CF, which limits other positions. But I like speed and run a slight lefty cheese, so Ty fits the team well. I just never spent so much on a player, but it seemed unlikely to get him in any packs.

Looking back, it was worth it to get the META card. Cobb is near the top in WAR and my team won Diamond and nearly made the playoffs in Perfect. Not sure I would have accomplished this without him?

I’ve been sitting on the cash for Cobb all week, but the timing (or the price) hasn’t matched to justify the upgrade. That said, I’m at a place where only incremental upgrades (Cobb, Ruth, Wagner, Rivera, peak Pedro) are going to make my team any better than the pack, and none of last night’s releases changed that, so I’m not sure what to expect of the last couple releases. So I’m just looking for the best deal to raise my diamond winning pct. from .550 to .575 at the cost of 1M+ PP? I’m kind of with the January consensus of, “What else are you going to spend on at this point?”
