I've been doing the same as an FTP player, but your pitching is stronger than mine, and I feel like upgrades at SS and OF (or solid platoons) will get you further than I -- I'm due for about 55 wins in diamond this week after previously being in the 60-70 range. I pulled Wagner yesterday, but have decided in the short term to sell and see if I can upgrade elsewhere; my Arky/Appling platoon is playing better at diamond than my pitching or corner infielders.

A solid team. As you look to improve, the ones which stick out as potential targets to replace are:
Henderson
DiMaggio
Rose
Lowe
Gagne
Lee
Reuss

Diamond is now pretty stable in terms of construction. The leagues tend to consist of relatively few 'prospects', usually down from perfect, with a couple of metas, or both; a rather larger group of the 'almost certainly doomed', up from Gold and/or without all the FH3 toppers; .. and the largest group in the middle. The last is very, very tight as play-off places are quite possible, but so is relegation which now requires a .500 record to avoid. Indeed week before last I only avoided that with a last game win to 83/79 and the guy on 82/80 went down.

The outcome of all this is that any string of results depends largely on who you play and when, even more than previously. Hence, if you have a .500 team there are combinations where you might easily go 0-7, or 7-0. 'Streaks' abound. A team that dominant in Gold is sure to bounce back even if not yet in playoff contention.

My biggest competition this week in gold has won three diamond leagues this year, and was sent down at 82-80. There's definitely a lot more competition in the middle and fewer obvious standouts. I was the beneficiary of a really tough division my last go around (and a last place finish); by the end of the week, my team looked more similar to theirs than the bottom six in the other conference. Matchups are huge and team construction matched with personal settings has become more pronounced. The more teams in the middle fighting for a postseason spot, the more important the 25th and 26th men on your roster become.
