Trade issue

Am I misunderstanding something here? This seems to keep happening in the following situation.

I shop a player and get offers of late round picks as shown in the picture, I try to negotiate it with the team and am immediately met with the 'NO WAY! - *Insert Team name* Cant add that much salary to their payroll!'

Despite them telling me that, if I shop the player again I will receive offers again, as shown in the second picture.

Thanks!

A little off-topic, but I love the GM name.

This is because the AI has set up a way for them to make the trade - ie: they may be preparing to make another move (whether that's waving or making another trade not with you). When you try to negotiate, it changes what they are planning, so they no longer want to make that move.

The AI then when you shop again has found another way to make it work.

Thanks Adam.

Is that the case even when I go into the trade screen in real time after receiving the offer? As soon as I do anything it starts to say they cant add that salary, not just once I've submitted the offer.

If so maybe it would be more immersive to have a different message from the GM stating that their current offer is 'take it or leave it' due to their other plans/ambitions/wheels in motion as it can just feel frustrating to get this message in a multitude of different scenarios.

Just out of curiosity, I'm assuming that this release of a player as shown on their transaction page on the same day is their way of making it work? How would that have been effected by my renegotiation for the picks? As that seems surely like a move they could have made anyway, I thought perhaps they were trading away the other picks to someone else to dump their own salary or something.

When the GM makes an offer/agrees to a deal, they've set up the moves they need to make to make it work. The minute you decide to try and change the terms, you've changed the game.

More, think of it as Buyer's remorse from the AI GMs. They're willing to make the move, but if you try and change/add to it, you've given them additional time to think on it and now they aren't willing to make that move.

As for that circumstance - it depends on a lot of scenarios. If you ran another sim and tried it again, they may make that trade. It's not always the same thing each time.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of it that way!
