I love this game.

Sometimes I catch myself yelling at my computer screen. Calling my players every expletive known to man.

Yelling at the opposing team pitcher that is rated 35, 40, 40 that somehow manages to always shut me out. Freaking cheater.

Getting so fed up with my lead off star player flying out 25 times in a row I sit his butt on the bench for a few days as punishment. Then sticking him at the bottom of the lineup when I let him play again.

Trading that complaining bench player that thinks he's a starter to the worst team in the league. That will show him.

Sometimes I love my players. Most of the time no so much. But I am having a blast.

Likewise. I am going through a dreadful streak with my 1971 Phillies. Nothing I do - trades, shuffling the lineup, aggressive strategy - seems to work. So, I have taken to amending the game summaries to reflect angry comments by the Manager [me]. It is hilarious and therapeutic that I can freely use profanity. (I have to trust that the AI does not provide for a team revolt, when my insulting comments get back to the players.). But, this was a bad team, and the game reflects that reality to an astonishing degree, and I am basically in awe of that fidelity to real life. I’m stubborn and competitive, and will just have to try harder.

Once I went through two separate 14 game losing streaks in the same in-game calendar month in manager only mode as the Tigers. There were probably a few heartbreak losses in there and some blowouts too. I managed each and every game of both of those streaks and at one point I benched my 3B for committing five errors in a single game. Actually, I pulled him after five innings in that five error game. This was a few versions ago and modern day baseball, I was annoyed at my team, but I loved every minute of it. I hadn't considered editing the post game recaps but I'm sure I would have had some very choice words.

I didn't know you could edit the game summary. I'll have to figure out how to do that.

That was a dreadful team, in an organization that has had their fair share. 67 wins that awful season. But wait, under the great guidance of Danny Ozark(the Oze!) they won 59 the following year, lol. I can still remember seeing Hall of Famer Jim Bunning still trying to pitch at the age of 39, winning just 5 games that year.

My mother's cousin was Danny Ozark from here in Buffalo. Look him up to see his real last name.

I manage and GM. Depending on the league though.

I manage and GM. Once in a while I ponder the unrealism of that, but both things are too much fun to not do.

I manage and GM. I also play out every game. It makes the game harder because it leads to more emotional decision making. It’s harder to tank and rebuild if you have to sit and watch your team lose over and over again.

Or easier as you control the in game decisions, whereas the AI will always make the optimal decision, correct?

Maybe you bring in that 35/70 potential reliever down 2 in the 6th where the AI would bring in that 60/60 reliever. Maybe in a tanking season you bat your 35/75 future leadoff hitter leadoff whereas the AI bats him 7th in favor of the 55/60 player.

Well, yea..the AI is trying to win…and not tank. The truth is, the players develop at the same rate as long as they are on the 40 man roster.

I wouldn’t want the AI to tank. Actually, MLB is going to have to do something about tanking IRL
