Ralph Kiner Defense in LF as 117
I tried searching the forums but couldn't find a thread about the card defense for 100 Rating players. I'm sure it's out there.
What is the rationale for many of these players having outrageously high defenses? Is it so the 100 Rated cards remain relevant to play in higher level leagues?

He's one of many
Ted Williams (107) and Albert Belle (95) are both great defenders in LF; neither one seemed to regard being in the field as more than a necessary evil between AB's. Fernando Tatis Jr.'s Selects card is a 113 at SS, which seems pretty generous for a guy who was rumored to be moving to RF. FH topper Brett is a 111 at 3B, his near-contemporary Robin Ventura is a 110 and nobody who saw them both play many times (like I did) would believe that. And both are better than Mike Schmidt (106) which is totally absurd. Rogers Hornsby and Bill Mazeroski are both 100's at 2B - while I never saw Rajah play, that's pretty hard to believe.
But this is a game loosely connected to real baseball. If you want more realistic ratings, there are online historical leagues. |

Yup, the main game is for realism. PT is for baseball-ish fun card collecting.

If so, it was a miserable failure.
