How to question

I'd like to create a league exactly like the NHL in 1917 that follows all rule changes, expansion, etc etc, but with fictional players.

Can I do that? If so how?

I've tried a couple times creating historical leagues and also tried fictional leagues but can't find an easy way to do this.

I'm spoiled by OOTP - create MLB League (any year), release all players, delete all players, fill teams with fictional players, hold inaugural draft.

Anyway, any/all help with this would be much appreciated.

Not possible right now. We're working on adding some more historical options to custom games, but we'll probably be doing the opposite of what you're looking for (adding historical players to custom teams) first.
