I know in the NHL you get to control what all the players do during the game (shoot, Pass, Fight etc). Why can't we do it in AHL or ECHL?
Is there an option for that? Will there be an option for that in the next update? I love this option and would love to be able to have this for the minors. |

Meaning controlling your AHL/ECHL farm team's on-ice decisions if you're controlling them? I'll see if we can add that.

Yes that is correct that would be amazing. One of the most amazing options you have added Jeff. One thing I notice though with the NHL club. I am the Seattle Kraken, during preseason my team destroys their opponents when I play and make on ice decisions. 6-0 record and I score 10+ goals which is nice. But is that supposed to happen? |

A Plea for MORE AHL Control
FHM 7 took a huge step forward with AHL control but there are still two areas that need to be addressed for us to actually control every facet of player development. And since player development is such a HUGE part of roster building and any sports sim, I'm hoping this is something that can be addressed in a future update.
(1) Choosing Player Roles at the AHL level. It is beyond frustrating having the AI decide that your top offensive prospect and future 1C should spend the season toiling away as a backchecking forward or grinder. And even though you can cycle through player roles via the dropdown menu, ultimately even if you do eventually land on a player role for said prospect that you can tolerate, chances are your second and third best prospects are now assigned roles that have nothing to do with how you envision using them in the future. I'm hoping that since we can select Player Role at the NHL level, the mechanism is already in place for us to do so at the AHL level as well. Please grant us this responsibility. We alone should decide how to use our prospects and in what capacity. (2) Individualized Training. This one will surprise many, since in theory we already CAN allocate precious training checkmarks to our prospects at the AHL level. However, a curious phenomenon happens at some juncture prior to the monthly Player Development Report. Unlike what occurs at the NHL level, the AI will surreptitiously remove some of the checkmarks from your chosen AHL prospects and allocate them to other players on the roster (even washed up 28 year old has-beens that are just there to occupy space). Don't believe me? Wait until the monthly Player Development Report arrives at your virtual desk and immediately go to the Training tab for your AHL club. There you will see the proof. Abiding by no rhyme or reason, you will see checkmarks randomly distributed amongst your players, some of which you selected...but many of which you did not. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I'm hoping this can be remedied, as it really detracts from the notion of player development. And in case anyone is wondering, this occurs even when you control EVERY organizational duty. The only thing I'll add is that I play exclusively with expansion franchises, so there is always a chance that this training subterfuge does not occur with the other 32 teams. |
